Sit on My Face T-Shirt
A Throwback to the Wild Underground T-Shirts of the 1960s & 1970s
Before graphic T-shirts became a billion-dollar mainstream fashion business, there were some wonderfully strange shirts floating around head shops, record stores and underground mail-order catalogs.
Sit on My Face is a tribute to that wonderfully irreverent era.
This is a newly created and completely reworked graphic by Don Capone, designed to capture the crude, funny, unapologetic attitude of those old underground T-shirts without presenting it as an original vintage shirt.
Big lettering, a goofy character face and a classic halftone-dot treatment give the artwork the unmistakable flavor of old-school counterculture graphics.
It's crude. It's funny. It's unapologetic. And it's definitely not your average graphic tee.
Available in sizes S through 4XL.
The Underground T-Shirt Culture
During the late 1960s and 1970s, T-shirts became an important part of the underground and counterculture scene.
Strange designs appeared on shirts sold through head shops, independent stores, record shops and mail-order catalogs. Some were psychedelic. Some were political. Some were crude. Some were simply bizarre.
They weren't necessarily trying to look polished or sophisticated. In fact, the roughness was part of the appeal.
Bold lettering, crude illustration, halftone dots and outrageous jokes became part of the visual language of underground T-shirt culture.
Sit on My Face is designed as a modern tribute to that particular aesthetic.
A Completely Reworked Original Graphic
This shirt is not a vintage original and is not being sold as one.
Don Capone created a new graphic interpretation inspired by the outrageous underground T-shirts of the 1960s and 1970s, reworking the imagery, character and composition into a new design.
The result captures the spirit of those old shirts while giving the artwork its own look and personality.
The classic halftone-dot effect, bold typography and deliberately crude character treatment are all part of the visual language that makes this style so recognizable.
It's essentially a little piece of underground T-shirt attitude brought back to life for a new generation.
Weird, Funny & Definitely Not Ordinary
This isn't a shirt for somebody looking for a quiet, tasteful little graphic.
It's for people who like their T-shirts weird, funny, irreverent and just a little offensive.
It's a natural fit for fans of retro T-shirts, underground art, counterculture graphics, vintage-inspired design, psychedelic-era aesthetics, novelty shirts, weird artwork and old-school alternative culture.
And if you remember the strange shirts that seemed to exist before everybody started worrying about whether everything was politically correct, you'll probably understand exactly what this design is trying to capture.
Vintage-Inspired Without Pretending to Be Vintage
If you're looking for an actual vintage original from the 1960s or 1970s, this isn't it.
This is something different: a newly created graphic designed to evoke the look, humor and attitude of that era.
It's for anyone who loves the visual language of old underground T-shirts but wants a new shirt featuring an original modern interpretation.
