Hubie Hamburgers T-Shirt

Remembering Hubie Hamburgers of Hauppauge, Long Island

If you grew up around Hauppauge, Long Island, in the 1960s, you might remember Hubie Hamburgers.

This original design was created as a tribute to Hubie Hamburgers wich was a  part of the Carvel Ice Cream franchise,  this short-lived restaurant from the early-to-mid 1960s that left a lasting impression.

For me, this isn't just retro artwork. It's a memory from growing up on Long Island — being able to walk to Hubie Hamburgers and remembering the place long after it was gone.

The design captures the nostalgia of old Long Island restaurants, early American hamburger stands and the rapidly changing roadside restaurant culture of the 1960s.

Hubie Hamburgers, Hauppauge & Retro Long Island

Some restaurants become chains. Others disappear almost completely, surviving mainly in the memories of the people who were there.

Hubie Hamburgers was one of those places. Located in Hauppauge, Long Island, the restaurant was around for only a relatively short time during the early-to-mid 1960s.

This original artwork and Hubie Hamburgers T-Shirt was created to preserve the memory of that little piece of Long Island history.

The design is especially meaningful to anyone who remembers Hauppauge and the surrounding Long Island area during the 1960s, as well as collectors of vintage restaurant memorabilia and retro New York Americana.
